It was my dream. After the success of my last trip, I wanted to organize a trip to Kenya. Regarding the current situation, it was quite hard to plan such a move, but I made it. And it was worth it!
Why did I choose Kenya?
I always thought Kenya was the beginning of everything. Diverse flora and fauna, mountains and ocean, massive forests, and megapolis make it so interesting. I wanted to discover the magic of this land. So I took the decision to travel there. And it wasn’t so hard. I had to present a negative COVID-19 test that was less than 96 hours old. The luck was on my side, I was able to travel without any problem. So the adventure began. The plan was ready. First, I wanted to visit the capital, Nairobi. Then, after two days, the idea was to leave the city and go for a wild safari in the protected park Masai Mara. It was going to be, for sure, the journey of my life!
My first steps in Nairobi
Once landed in the capital, I couldn’t wait to join the city center. First, it was time to eat. And it wasn’t a better place than Uhuru Park. A green field in the middle of a town. Amazing! After lunch, I decided to go for a walk. The city is wonderful. It’s so rich and diverse. Crossing places, markets, and museums, Kenya’s capital offered us a huge choice of culture. I couldn’t leave the city without taking the amazing view from the top of the Kenyatta International Convention Center. Up there, you will feel like the king of the world.
Wild Safari, the reason why we went to Kenya
The city left behind. It was time for me to do what I always dreamed about. A wild safari. To do so, I traveled to Masai Mara. This national reserve in the south-east of Kenya is one of the most famous nature reserves in the world. The idea of going there was to see wildlife as close as possible. So I booked a trip, and I went into the savannah where I was sure to find what I came for. I have to admit that having an armed guide with me let me a bit… scared. Was it that dangerous? I understood later that it was just a precaution. Uuuuf!
The first day of the trip has been quite calm. I especially saw rivers and trees. I also saw some gazelles and antelopes. But to be fair, it wasn’t what I expected. The second day was completely different. I woke up at 5.00 am. A quick coffee and I jumped in the car. I didn’t have time to waste. The show wouldn’t wait for me. The guide took me to a place where I stayed still, maybe an hour long. And here it came. We couldn’t believe it. It was our first lion. Walking so elegantly and quietly. I was so excited that I couldn’t stop to shake watching him. Once he disappeared in the high grass, we moved to another place, my eyes full of stars. The same day, I had the chance to see cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, and all sorts of animals. The best day of my life.
Our hotel, unforgeable nights
To stay in the most wonderful nature reserve in Kenya, I didn’t choose my hotel randomly. I knew that the one I was going to stay was offering a special service. In fact, every room has an alarm, and you can choose if you want to let it on/off. The deal was that the staff would activate your alarm every time an animal would come to drink in the pond near the hotel. You already imagine that I had my alarm turned on all week long. I had the chance to see lions, hyenas, rhino, and more, drinking just in front of my windows. It was just unbelievable.
