The best Halloween costumes straight from your closet

Halloween is fast approaching and you don’t want to be thinking about your costume at the last minute as you might end up doing something you won’t be winning any contests with! Here are a few tips on how to create great costumes from what you already have in your wardrobe!

No need to go crazy and spend a huge amount of money for just this one day of the year as you probably don’t want to use the same one again next year. It is really easy to create your own with clothes and accessories at home, and also a lot of fun!

Does a Halloween costume have to be scary?

In my opinion I don’t think it’s necessary to dress in a very scary costume for Halloween. I think it’s nice to put some thought into it and be creative if you feel like it but you don’t need to look like a zombie or a ghost to be in the spirit of Halloween

However, I do prefer to not dress up as a cat or a school girl because I don’t really see the relation between these kinds of costumes and Halloween. But everyone is of course free to choose whatever they like!

You can get so much inspiration online nowadays. And it’s so easy to go bananas for this scary holiday. I do suggest that you have a look in your own wardrobe before you start shopping!

A great tip is to level up your costume with jewelry for Halloween.

Halloween costumes don't have to be expensive or very fancy or even very scray. Start by having a look in your own closet. With a black dress you have the start to Wednesday Adams or Cruella de Vil.

Two favorites

I have a couple of characters that I love and that are very suitable for a Halloween party! And they also don’t require too much effort or shopping.

Wednesday Adams

This is a classic that always works! And you will not need to get a lot of things, I’m pretty sure you already own a black long sleeved short dress and a white shirt or collar (which is really fashionable this fall and winter).

Wednesday might be a bit scary, creepy and possesses sadistic traits but she sure knows how to wear a LBD! Pair the dress with low black block heels, smokey eyes and a choker necklace and you’re good to go! Minimal effort but a great costume to wear for Halloween this year!

Cruella de Vil for Halloween

I love Cruella de Vil! Her style is so cool! And it’s so easy to copy this for the perfect Halloween look

All you need is a black dress, a fur coat, red gloves and lipstick and son spray colouring for your hair! It really is super easy to look like the sexiest villain. And even if you don’t have all the things at home at least there are not that many things you actually have to buy. I know I own at least one red lipstick and a black dress so that’s already half way.

I haven’t completely decided which one I will go for this year as I love both ideas. I’ll choose one this year and wear the other one next year!
